BANK PO EXAM CRITERIA, ELIGIBILITY, SYLLABUS, DATES: 

 

Bank PO : 

 PO stands for Probationary Officer. Bank PO exam is one of the most popular competitive bank exams in India. Every year nearly 9.5 lakhs appear for the exams and 20000 of them are selected for the main exam. A probation officer (PO) is generally a junior manager scale i.e assistant manager, after getting selected in PO exam, the candidate will go through training at the Institute Of Banking Management. The probation period may differ from one bank to another. There are many types of bank PO exams such as

  • IBPS common entrance exam for PO

  • IBPS clerk

  • IBPS RRB

  • SBI PO

  • RBI Grade A and Grade B exams

  • ICICI Bank PO 

  • NABARD Recruitment

 

BANK PO ROLE :

During the training, a PO gets trained on many aspects such as finance, accounts, billing, some basic computer languages etc. So in the beginning periods of the job, a PO is given all the types of jobs in which they got trained. The PO must make sure that he is making an impact on the bank in increasing its revenue, addressing and solving the complaints, and if his work is satisfactory, he will be assigned to higher roles such as investing, budget planning, loan processing etc. 

The main responsibility of the PO is to handle the customers and solve the issues they have and generating income to the bank. Having good technical skills is a real plus for one who got selected in bank PO exams.

 

BANK PO EXAM :

Every year all the public sector banks and private banks conduct PO exams. To get selected one must pass preliminary exams and then the main exam. Some of the major banks in India conducting the exams are as follows

  • STATE BANK OF INDIA (SBI)

  • ICICI BANK 

  • BANK OF BARODA

  • ALLAHABAD BANK

  • PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK (PNB)

  • HDFC BANK 

  • SYNDICATE BANK

In the above PO exams, the major people appear for SBI PO and IBPS PO exams as they have many vacancies all over India. Eligible candidates for SBI PO exams must go through three phases prelims, mains and a face to face interview. Selection will be based on merit.

 

The institute of banking personnel selection (IBPS) is the entryway to most of the bank. It provides services for SBI, LIC, RBI, NABARD etc. IBPS PO conducts a common written entrance exam for PO and clerks. The exam is online and conducted in various parts of India.

BANK PO EXAM PATTERN AND SYLLABUS : 

When it comes to the pattern bank PO exam has three phases prelims, mains and a face to face interview and selection is purely based on merit 

The bank PO exam syllabus is completely in a way to test the candidate skills which are useful for the banking sector. The exam tests the aptitude and reasoning skills of the candidate. The preliminary paper contains three sections namely verbal ability, quantitative aptitude, reasoning. The main paper has 5 sections namely quantitative aptitude, verbal ability, reasoning, general awareness, computer knowledge. Different banks have different patterns

 

 

SALARY OF A BANK PO :

The salary of a Bank PO is reasonably good, apart from the salary the allowances they get are really good, one can make a pocket full of money with the entire salary. Some of the allowances a PO get are as follows

  • Dearness Allowance (DA)

  • House Rent Allowance (HRA)

  • Special Allowance

  • Compensatory City Allowance (CCA)

  • Conveyance Allowance (CA)

When it comes to promotions there will be step by step process and a candidate who join as PO can be promoted up to CMD.

ELIGIBILITY :

Another important thing that comes to mind when applying for competitive exams is eligibility criteria, the candidate must be between 21-30 years and a five years relaxation for SC ST and three years relaxation for OBC candidates

The candidate must be a graduate from designated university

The candidate should not have any criminal record
